J.A. Bayona为Amazon的《指环王》执导头两集

J.A. Bayona宣布加盟Amazon的《指环王 The Lord of the Rings》剧集版，他会负责执导头两集，J.A. Bayona执导过的电影有《侏罗纪世界2 Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom》﹑《当怪物来敲门 A Monster Calls》及《海啸奇迹 Lo imposible》等。

《指环王》是Amazon 17年年底公布的项目并已获多季预订，至今仍然没有演员或档期（倒是Ian McKellen有暗示他可能在剧中再度饰演名角Gandalf）。剧组表示剧集会讲述《指环王1：魔戒再现 The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring》的新故事线。

JD Payne﹑Patrick McKay及《权力的游戏 Game of Thrones》编剧之一Bryan Cogman会担当编剧，Bryan Cogman过去为《权力的游戏》负责了11集剧本，在最终季里写了S08E02「A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms」（他亦是《Inside HBO's Game of Thrones》的作者）。
